Two-Car Collision at San Diego Carl's Jr. Drive-Thru Leaves One Person Hospitalized

One person hospitalized with major injuries
A two-car collision in a drive-thru line at a Carl's Jr. restaurant in Kearny Mesa, San Diego, resulted in one person being hospitalized with major injuries on Saturday evening, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD).
The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. at the Carl's Jr. located on Convoy Street. A Toyota Tacoma was traveling northbound on Kearny Mesa Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a curb. The Tacoma then went airborne and landed on top of a Honda sedan that was stopped at one of the drive-thru windows.
The driver of the Tacoma, identified as a 23-year-old man, was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of his major injuries. As of now, there is no information available regarding his current condition or identity.
The driver of the Honda, a 40-year-old woman, along with two elderly passengers also sustained minor injuries during the crash. They were treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
Authorities from SDPD's traffic division are currently investigating the incident. Preliminary findings suggest that alcohol may have been involved as officers believe that the driver of the Tacoma was under its influence while operating his vehicle.
Following this unfortunate accident, law enforcement closed down northbound lanes of Kearny Mesa Road for investigation purposes and to facilitate cleanup operations until approximately 9:30 p.m., after which they were reopened for normal traffic flow.
As more details emerge from this ongoing investigation into what caused this collision in an unexpected location like a fast-food drive-thru line, it serves as another reminder for drivers to exercise caution and remain vigilant behind-the-wheel to prevent such accidents from occurring.
