Two Dead, One Injured in High-Speed Pursuit Crash

Two dead, one transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries
Two people have lost their lives while another has been seriously injured following a police chase that ended in a crash in southeast South Dakota. The incident occurred on Wednesday at about 10 am when a trooper with the highway patrol attempted to stop a vehicle traveling westbound on South Dakota Highway 50 in Clay County.
The car was reportedly driving erratically and going over 100 mph. Despite the trooper's efforts to stop the vehicle, it refused to pull over, leading to a pursuit. During the chase, the car crashed into a semi-truck near Yankton city limits.
Unfortunately, two of the three occupants inside the fleeing car were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident while one person sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment. At this time, authorities are yet to release any information regarding their identities.
The Yankton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident as they work towards determining what led up to this tragic event.
