Two dead, one critically injured
An adult and a teenager tragically lost their lives, while another teen is fighting for their life after a devastating accident on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on the northbound lane of I-35 near mile marker 41 in La Salle County.
According to reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a commercial truck tractor collided with a Ford pickup truck, causing the pickup to roll over multiple times. As a result of this horrific collision, two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
In response to this tragic event, DPS has closed off the northbound lane of I-35 at mile marker 39. Traffic is being diverted through the access road of I-35 as authorities work diligently to investigate and clean up the wreckage.
The driver of the commercial truck has reported no injuries thus far. However, investigations are ongoing to determine what led to this devastating accident.
Authorities have urged drivers traveling along the northbound lane of I-35 near La Salle County to anticipate delays due to ongoing cleanup efforts.
The La Salle County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that they will be collaborating with DPS during their investigation into this heart-wrenching incident.
