Two Dead in Three-Vehicle Crash on I-15 in Bonsall

Two declared dead
An adult and an infant were declared dead in a three-vehicle traffic collision on Sunday afternoon on southbound Interstate 15 south of state Route 76. The crash occurred at around 3:13 p.m. and involved a black pickup truck, white Tesla, and a black sedan, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The pickup truck overturned and landed on its roof, while the black sedan was smoking, per the CHP. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The ages and genders of the deceased were not immediately released, said Capt. John Choi of the North County Fire Protection District.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office was called to the scene at 3:37 p.m., the CHP reported. It was unclear which vehicle or vehicles the deceased had been in. There was no immediate report of any other injuries.
The crash caused all lanes of I-15 south to be blocked for several hours, according to a CHP Sig Alert. Traffic on I-15 south at CA-76/Pala Road was backed up to Rainbow Valley Boulevard at Exit 54. One southbound lane opened just north of SR-76 around 5:30 p.m., a little over two hours after the crash, according to CalTrans.
As of 5:15 p.m., the southbound lanes were still closed as the truck remained overturned near the center divider area, according to the Sig Alert.
The identities of the deceased have not been released pending notification of their families. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
