Two Drivers Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on I-84 in Middlebury: Leticia Dourado and Mathew Marquis

Two drivers lost their lives in a fatal car crash that occurred on Sunday morning in Middlebury, Connecticut. The accident happened around 3:09 am on I-84 east when a Toyota Prius was hit head-on by a Mitsubishi Eclipse driving the wrong way.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was reportedly driving westbound in the eastbound lanes and collided with the Toyota. Sadly, both drivers succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident. The police have identified them as Leticia Dourado, aged 22 from Waterbury who drove the Prius and Mathew Marquis aged 45 from Woodbury who drove the Mitsubishi.
The next of kin for both drivers have been notified about this tragic incident. Initially, I-84 East between exits 16 and 17 was closed down for investigation purposes but has since reopened.
This is an unfortunate reminder of how dangerous it can be to drive recklessly or under any influence. It's important for all motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations while also being vigilant while behind the wheel.
