Two Hospitalized After Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-94 in Jackson
A multi-vehicle car crash that occurred on westbound I-94 Saturday night has left two people hospitalized. The accident happened between Airport Road and M-60, according to the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety.
Officers arrived at the scene around 5:37 p.m. and found two injured victims. One man, aged 34, was pinned between his Ford Ranger and the median wall while another man was trapped inside his car.
The department stated that the crash appeared to have been caused when the Ford Ranger collided with a Ford Bronco traveling on westbound I-94. The Bronco then hit a Michigan Department of Transportation arrow trailer which was pushed into the left lane of traffic causing a third car to veer away and collide with another vehicle before crashing into a tree.
Multiple witnesses reported that the driver of the Ford Ranger had been driving recklessly prior to hitting the Bronco. Officials suspect that speed and alcohol may have played roles in causing this accident.
As of Sunday afternoon, both individuals taken to Henry Ford Hospital remain in critical condition. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
The roadway remained closed for approximately three hours during cleanup efforts following this tragic incident. Anyone who witnessed or has information about this crash is asked to call 517-788-4223 as authorities continue their investigation into what led up to it.
