Two In Critical Condition After Car Accident in Marianna

Both the driver and his passenger sustained critical injuries and were transported to the hospital by helicopter.
Two individuals are currently in critical condition following a car accident that occurred on Tuesday in Marianna, according to troopers.*
The incident took place at approximately 11:53 a.m. on Highway 90, just east of Poplar Springs Road. An SUV driven by an 83-year-old man from Marianna was traveling eastbound on Highway 90 when the accident unfolded.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol's news release, the driver accelerated to pass another vehicle but encountered difficulties while attempting to return to the eastbound lane. As a result, he veered off the roadway and onto the southbound shoulder.
In an attempt to regain control and reenter the roadway, the driver overcorrected his steering which caused the vehicle to rotate across into the north shoulder. The SUV ultimately collided with a culvert and overturned multiple times.
Both occupants of the vehicle sustained critical injuries as a result of this harrowing crash. The driver and his passenger, identified as a 58-year-old woman from Marianna, were swiftly transported via helicopter to receive medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
Authorities are actively investigating this incident further in order to determine all contributing factors leading up to this unfortunate accident.
