Two juveniles died, five people were in the car
Two juveniles lost their lives in a tragic two-vehicle crash that occurred in Johnston County on Friday. The accident took place at the intersection of NC Highway 242 and Drag Strip Road in southeast Johnston County.
According to the authorities, the crash occurred when the driver of an SUV failed to stop at a stop sign and was T-boned by a dump truck outside of Benson. The impact of the collision caused two backseat passengers who were not wearing seatbelts to be ejected from the vehicle. One of the passengers died on the spot, while the other succumbed to their injuries later. Five people were in the car at the time of the accident.
The highway was closed for several hours while the crews cleaned up the wreckage. The weather was not a factor in the crash.
