The Utah Co. Sheriff's Office has released new details regarding the fatal crash that occurred in Eagle Mountain on Sunday, June 4th. The victims have been identified as Rodney Michal Salm, 48, of Salt Lake City and Michaela Himmleberger, 47, of Holladay.
According to the sheriff's office, Salm and Himmleberger were "completely uninvolved" in the road rage incident that led to their deaths. Charges against the drivers involved in the road rage are pending at this time.
The incident began when a driver of a Ford F-150 and a driver of a Nissan Maxima became involved in a road rage incident near Brandon Park in Eagle Mountain. The F-150 reportedly pulled onto a road in front of the Maxima before both vehicles turned right and headed east on SR-73.
The driver of the F-150 then moved into the eastbound emergency lane and pulled up next to the Maxima before ramming into it from its side. The driver of the Maxima started to stop at which point "it appears that he lost control," according to authorities.
Salm was driving his Porsche westbound when he was hit head-on by the out-of-control F-150 driven by an unidentified man who is currently being treated for injuries sustained during this accident.
"The Porsche was completely destroyed as a result of this crash," said officials from Utah Co. Sheriff’s Office
