Two Killed and Five Injured in Louisiana Crash
On Tuesday, June 27, a crash between an ambulance and a Coke truck resulted in two fatalities and five injuries. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Morganza Highway near Deaton Lane in Pointe Coupee Parish.
According to authorities, three people were inside the ambulance at the time of the accident. One medic was injured and sent to a hospital while the other two occupants were killed.
Acadian Ambulance confirmed that one of their ambulances was involved in the collision. The company released a statement saying they are cooperating with law enforcement officials investigating the scene but have no further information to release at this time.
The driver of the Coke truck also sustained injuries along with three individuals inside another car involved in the crash.
Louisiana State Police are currently investigating, and as of now, the roadway is closed until further notice. The public is being urged to use an alternative route.
"Our entire Acadian family extends our deepest sympathies to families of victims and those injured," said Acadian Ambulance in their statement.
