Two Killed, Including Infant, in Pala Mesa Rollover Crash

Two people, including an infant, were killed and four others were injured in a rollover crash on Sunday evening on Interstate 15 in Pala Mesa, California. The California Highway Patrol received reports of the crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 around 3:13 p.m. in the Pala Mesa area. Upon arrival, officers determined that the crash location was closer to the State Route 76 merge of Interstate 15 near Bonsal.
The crash involved a black pickup truck, a white Tesla, and a black sedan. The pickup overturned and landed on its roof, and the black sedan was smoking. According to Captain John Choi with North County Fire Protection District, one adult and an infant were dead on the scene. North County Fire Protection District reports showed at least one other person was taken to an area hospital in unknown condition.
Live freeway cameras provided by Caltrans showed that southbound traffic was being diverted out of lanes and onto the shoulder. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Southbound traffic conditions through Pala Mesa were impacted as far north as Murrieta.
The California Highway Patrol has not released the identities of the victims. The investigation is ongoing.
