Two Killed in York County Crash Involving Lawnmower: Christopher Kernaghan and Jessie Purser

Two people lost their lives in a tragic accident involving a lawnmower on Saturday night in York County, South Carolina. According to the South Carolina State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just after 8:30 p.m. on Homestead Road in Rock Hill.
Troopers reported that a Ford Ranger carrying three passengers was traveling east on Homestead Road when it veered off the right side of the road and then overcorrected before colliding with a man mowing his lawn who had a passenger riding along.
The driver of the lawnmower, identified as 32-year-old Christopher Kernaghan, was thrown from it and died at the scene. One passenger from the truck was also ejected and taken to hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. The coroner’s office identified her as 13-year-old Jessie Purser.
Two other passengers - one from each vehicle - were transported to hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The highway patrol and York County Coroner’s Office are still investigating this tragic event.
