Two Killed in Pickup Truck Crash on Highway 4 near Bay Point

Both occupants of the GMC pickup truck died, while the Volkswagen driver was not injured.
Two people tragically lost their lives on Friday night in a fatal collision on eastbound state Highway 4 near Bay Point, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident occurred when a GMC pickup truck collided with a Volkswagen sedan, causing the pickup truck to overturn and ejecting both occupants.
The two-vehicle crash took place at approximately 8:15 p.m. on eastbound Highway 4, just west of Bailey Road. CHP officials reported that the impact of the collision caused the GMC pickup truck to veer off the roadway and flip over, leading to the ejection of both individuals inside.
Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene and transported both occupants of the GMC to a nearby hospital. Tragically, despite medical intervention, they succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment. The driver of the Volkswagen sedan involved in the crash emerged unharmed.
As of now, authorities have not released any information regarding the identities of those who lost their lives in this devastating accident. The Contra Costa County coroner's office is expected to provide further details once proper notifications have been made.
