Two Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 55 in Wilmington

Two adults killed, three juveniles injured
Late Tuesday night, a tragic accident occurred on Interstate 55 in Wilmington, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and leaving several others injured. The incident involved four vehicles, including two semi-trucks.
The crash took place around 9:50 p.m., when a GMC Yukon carrying two adults and three juveniles was traveling southbound on I-55 near the Lorenzo Road exit. At that moment, a black F-150 truck driving in the wrong direction collided head-on with the Yukon. Additionally, the Yukon was struck by a truck tractor-semi-trailer.
Tragically, both adults seated at the front of the Yukon lost their lives as a result of the collision. The deceased have been identified as Ronald Dube (35) and Kelly Quinlan-Dube (34), residents of Emington according to information provided by the Will County Coroner's Office. Meanwhile, emergency services transported three juveniles - twins aged seven years old and a two-year-old - to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the F-150 also sustained non-life-threatening injuries during this devastating incident. Authorities suspect that alcohol may have played a role in causing this fatal crash.
Following this tragedy, southbound lanes were closed at Lorenzo Road for several hours while investigators worked diligently to gather evidence and determine what led to this horrific accident. Fortunately, these lanes were reopened around 5:00 am once authorities completed their investigation.
Law enforcement agencies are continuing their efforts to investigate further into this heartbreaking incident that claimed two lives and caused significant harm to others involved.
