Two officers injured in crash on I-480 near Warrensville Center Road

Two police officers were injured while responding to the scene of an accident along I-480 near Warrensville Center Road on Saturday morning. The Warrensville Heights Police Department officials reported that while police and fire were on the scene of a crash, an uninvolved vehicle lost control and struck a police cruiser, as well as an officer outside his police car.
According to officials, one officer is now in stable condition, and the other officer was treated and released. The portion of I-480 westbound, beyond SR-8/Northfield Road, was closed for several hours due to the series of crashes.
The incident caused a significant backup, and at about 10:30 a.m., two Ohio State Highway Patrol cruisers blocked the highway. The highway reopened just before 12:30 p.m. Police are reminding motorists to always slow down when approaching an emergency scene.
