Two semi drivers suffered minor injuries

Two semi drivers sustained minor injuries in a crash that occurred on the Kansas Turnpike in Butler County. The accident took place at approximately 5:20 a.m. on northbound I-35 near Santa Fe Lake Road.

According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority, the incident unfolded when a tractor-trailer driver lost control of their vehicle, causing it to roll over and block multiple lanes of traffic. Subsequently, another semi collided with the first rig's trailer before veering off the roadway and striking a nearby fence.

Emergency services arrived promptly at the scene, where they assessed both drivers for injuries. The 38-year-old Minnesota man operating the initial semi declined medical treatment at that time. However, the second driver, identified as a 58-year-old man from North Carolina, was transported to an area hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

As a result of this collision, northbound traffic had to be temporarily halted for several hours while authorities worked diligently to clear debris from the roadways and investigate any potential hazards or safety concerns.

The investigation into this crash is ongoing as officials work towards determining its cause and any contributing factors involved.
