Two Semis Involved in Crash in Township of Lessor, Wisconsin

Highway reopened for travel after investigation and removal of the semis.
A major highway in Shawano County was blocked for several hours as emergency crews and law enforcement worked to clear the aftermath of a crash involving two semi-trucks. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, prompting authorities to shut down Highway 47 near Co Rd S.
According to the Shawano County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the scene at approximately 7:50 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered both semis disabled in the lane of travel, necessitating a complete closure of Highway 47 in that area. Detours were quickly established to redirect traffic.
Preliminary investigations by the sheriff's office revealed that one of the semis traveling northbound had crossed over into oncoming traffic. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the driver of the southbound semi swerved towards the northbound lane. Unfortunately, both vehicles collided head-on while traveling southbound.
The driver operating the northbound semi sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported via ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, no injuries were reported for the driver of the southbound truck involved in this unfortunate accident.
As authorities continued their investigation into what caused this alarming incident, Highway 47 remained closed until both damaged semis could be safely removed from its lanes. Finally, after several hours of diligent work by emergency personnel and law enforcement officials alike, normal traffic flow resumed just after 3:00 p.m.
At present time, names of those involved have not been released by authorities pending further investigation into this matter.
