Two Teens Charged After Fatal Crash Involving Stolen Vehicle in Chicago's West Side
Two teenagers have been charged after a six-month-old boy was killed and three others were injured in a crash involving a stolen vehicle on Chicago's West Side last week, according to the police.
The incident occurred on Sunday, April 16, at about 5:06 p.m. in the West Garfield Park neighborhood's 4400 block of West Washington Boulevard. A stolen Hyundai was traveling westbound on Washington when it collided with a pickup truck, which was traveling southbound on North Kostner Avenue.
The pickup truck was carrying three children and one adult, who were all taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. Cristian Uvidia, the six-month-old boy, died from his injuries, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed. A 34-year-old woman and two girls, aged 15 and 7, were treated for injuries at the hospital.
The two teenagers, both 14-year-old boys, who were in the stolen Hyundai, have each been charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing, police said.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for Cristian's funeral.
The Chicago Police Department's investigation is ongoing.
