An accident involving two tractor trailers and a car closed all eastbound lanes of traffic on I-84 in Sturbridge on Monday morning. The incident occurred around 8:05 a.m. near Exit 3 on I-84, according to State Police.
One driver, a 37-year-old Stamford, Connecticut man, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The accident caused one tractor trailer to be sideswiped and damaged, resulting in debris spilling all over the highway. The second truck swerved off the road and crashed into the tree line. Photos shared by State Police show the two tractor trailers heavily damaged in the incident. Debris, cargo, and fuel can be seen all over the highway.
Sturbridge Police, State Police, and Sturbridge firefighters assisted in the accident. State Police rerouted traffic through the nearby weigh-station for hours as crews cleaned up the area. The highway was reopened by 3:15 p.m.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
