Two members of the United States military are dead and a dozen more injured after a military vehicle accident near Salcha, Alaska. Seventeen members of the 11th Airborne Division were riding a light medium tactical transport vehicle in the Yukon Training Area when the accident occurred.
Two members of the United States military have tragically lost their lives and a dozen more have been injured in a military vehicle accident near Salcha, Alaska. The incident took place at the Yukon Training Area while seventeen members of the 11th Airborne Division were traveling in a light medium tactical transport vehicle.
According to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, which serves as the division's headquarters, the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle on a dirt road leading into the training area. As a result, the vehicle flipped over. The cause of this devastating accident is currently under investigation.
First responders swiftly arrived at the scene and provided immediate medical treatment to those involved. The injured soldiers were then transported for further care to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in Fairbanks. Some were airlifted while others were taken by ground transportation. At this time, no specific details regarding their conditions have been released.
However, it has been reported that two critically injured soldiers were airlifted to Providence Medical Center in Anchorage for specialized treatment.
At this time, next-of-kin notifications have not yet been completed. Accordingly, the identities of those involved have not yet been released by military officials.
