Two People Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash in Martinsburg

Both victims taken to UPMC Altoona with serious injuries. Driver of the truck uninjured. Horse euthanized.
Emergency crews responded to a serious two-vehicle crash just outside of Martinsburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania on Tuesday afternoon. The incident involved a box truck colliding with a horse and buggy carrying two individuals. Both occupants of the buggy sustained severe injuries and were promptly transported to UPMC Altoona for medical treatment.
According to Chief Randy Acker of the Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company, the driver of the truck emerged from the accident unharmed. Unfortunately, emergency personnel discovered the injured horse lying in a nearby cornfield upon their arrival at the scene. Regrettably, due to its condition, it was necessary to euthanize the animal.
The collision occurred around 2:45 p.m. on Cove Mountain Road within North Woodbury Township. As a result of this tragic event, authorities temporarily closed off access to this road for several hours while they conducted investigations and cleared debris from the area. However, as of now, Cove Mountain Road has been reopened for public use.
