Four Injured in Syracuse Pickup Collision

The Otoe County Sheriff's Office has reported a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Saturday at the intersection of Highway 2 and County Road 32 in Syracuse. According to reports, a pickup truck traveling south on Road 32 failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with another pickup truck heading westbound on the highway.
As a result of the collision, both occupants of the southbound pickup were injured. The driver, identified as a 16-year-old male from Syracuse, along with his passenger was taken to Syracuse Area Health for medical attention. However, due to severe injuries sustained during the crash, the male passenger had to be flown by air ambulance to Bryan Health in Lincoln.
In addition, Nickolas Griffen (26) from Hermiston Oregon and Mariaha Wilhelm (29) from Umatilla Oregon who were riding in the other vehicle also suffered injuries and were transported by ambulance to Bryan Health in Lincoln for treatment.
Following this incident, traffic flow was briefly interrupted as authorities worked towards clearing up debris from the scene. Radio traffic indicated an incidental accident when a semi-trailer backed up over a stopped motorcycle near the accident site; fortunately no one was hurt but it impeded traffic again.
