Late Sunday night, two women were injured in a hit-and-run crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 55. The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. near Kewanee, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), an unknown semi tractor-trailer collided with the rear of the car that Nakyla D. Bird and Deaziah A. Bird were traveling in, causing it to flip off the interstate.

The MSHP reported that "the force of the crash caused the car to go off the interstate and flip." Afterward, "the semi then left the scene."

Both women were wearing seat belts at the time of impact and suffered moderate injuries as a result of this accident. They were taken by ambulance to Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment.

Authorities are still searching for information regarding this hit-and-run case and urge anyone with relevant details to come forward immediately.
