The Madison Mallards' Sunday game against the Wausau Woodchucks has been rescheduled following a devastating car accident involving an umpire from the Northwoods League. Conor McKenzie, a dedicated and respected member of the league, tragically lost his life while en route to officiate the Mallards' home game.

In an official press release on Sunday, the Madison Mallards expressed their deep sorrow over McKenzie's passing. The team revealed that he was traveling with two other umpires who fortunately sustained stable conditions after the crash.

"Conor was an exceptional umpire and an even better person," stated Dick Radatz Jr., Chairman of the Northwoods League. "His dedication to the game was unparalleled, and his loss is deeply felt throughout our league."

McKenzie had been part of the Northwoods League since 2019 and had officiated nearly 350 games during his tenure. He also had the honor of being present at every all-star game and postseason event in each of his four previous seasons with the league.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and how deeply it can impact those within a close-knit community like the Northwoods League. Our thoughts go out to Conor McKenzie's family and friends during this difficult time.
