Van Driver Survives Accident Between Two Tractor Trailers

Driver taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
A driver miraculously escaped with their life after being caught between two tractor trailers in a harrowing accident on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. near mile marker 59 in Montgomery County.
According to Trooper Josh Robinson of the Illinois State Police, the crash unfolded when a tractor-trailer traveling north on Interstate 55 slowed down due to ongoing construction work. Following suit, a Chevrolet van that was trailing behind also decelerated.
Unfortunately, another tractor-trailer approaching from behind failed to stop or slow down in time and collided forcefully into the back of the van, propelling it forward into the rear of the first trailer. The impact caused both vehicles to burst into flames.
Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene and rushed the van's driver to a nearby regional hospital for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries were determined not to be life-threatening. Thankfully, no other individuals were harmed during this terrifying ordeal.
As authorities commenced their investigation into the incident, northbound I-55 and one lane of southbound I-55 had to be temporarily closed off for safety reasons. However, by 11:35 p.m., all lanes were reopened as normal traffic flow resumed along Interstate 55.
