In the early hours of Saturday morning, a vehicle crashed into a house in Auglaize County, leaving two people seriously injured. The incident occurred at the intersection of North Spruce Street and East High Street in St. Marys.

According to a spokesperson for the St. Mary's police department, officers responded to a report of a crash around 12:40 a.m. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling southbound on North Spruce Street when it veered off the right side of the road and collided with a home located in the 200 block of North Spruce Street.

The impact caused significant damage as the vehicle struck the northeast corner of the house, passed through both the living room and bedroom, and exited through its south side.

Emergency services were called to assist at the scene, and two adults were transported to hospital with apparent serious injuries. The identities or current conditions of those involved have not been released.

Photographs from witnesses show that substantial structural damage was inflicted upon the house by this unfortunate accident. Caution tape has been placed around the area as authorities continue their investigation.

Christopher A. Zumbroegel, aged 32 and residing in St. Mary's, has been taken into custody by local law enforcement on charges of aggravated vehicular assault related to this incident.

Authorities suspect that alcohol or drugs may have played a role in causing this crash; however, further details regarding these factors have not yet been disclosed publicly.

Due to safety concerns stemming from extensive structural damage sustained by the residence during this event and its potential danger to nearby residents if left standing, officials decided to demolish it after completing their investigation.

Multiple agencies provided assistance at the scene including Auglaize County Sheriff's Office, Auglaize County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), Auglaize County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), St. Mary's EMS, St. Mary's General Services, Electric Department, and Water Department.
