Ware County Firefighter Bobby 'Blue' Smith Dies in Fatal Accident

A preliminary report from the Georgia State Patrol has revealed more details about the fatal accident that claimed the life of a Ware County firefighter. Bobby 'Blue' Smith, 24, was driving a firetruck south on Manor Millwood Road when he lost control of it and veered off the roadway onto the west shoulder. The truck then overturned across the roadway and hit a tree before coming to rest in a nearby ditch on its passenger's side. Smith was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with investigations into what caused this tragic incident. Dee Meadows, Ware County Fire Chief expressed his condolences for Smith's family, friends, and colleagues: "Please keep his family, friends, and Ware County Fire Rescue in your thoughts and prayers in the upcoming days."
Smith had been born in Waycross on July 12th, 1998 to Bobby Green Smith and Crystal Blue Freeman. He graduated from Pierce County High School in 2017 before dedicating himself to serving as a firefighter for Ware County Fire Department.
In addition to firefighting duties, he also worked for Kenny Hodges Plumbing as well as Chris Walker Lawn Care services. A humble follower of Christ who loved people dearly; he enjoyed fishing trips with his family or riding buggies around Fat Daddy's ATV Park.
