Waterbury man Javier Rosado-Toro killed in two-vehicle crash on I-691 in Meriden

Javier Rosado-Toro was ejected and pronounced dead on the scene. The other, a woman from Orlando, FL, in the Ram was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury with serious injuries.
A Waterbury man lost his life in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Sunday night on Interstate 691 in Meriden. The victim was identified as 35-year-old Javier Rosado-Toro by state police.
According to troopers, the accident happened when the drivers of two pickup trucks were heading westbound on I-691, about three-quarters of a mile west of exit 3. At around 9:15 p.m., the driver of a Dodge Ram Big Horn, which Rosado-Toro was in, attempted to pass the other truck, a Ford F-350, on the left. However, the Ram collided with the F-350 instead.
After the collision, the Ram spun out of control across the roadway to the right and collided with a cable barrier in the right shoulder. It then went down an embankment where it rolled over and hit a tree. Rosado-Toro was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman from Orlando, FL, who was also in the Ram, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury with serious injuries. Police have not yet disclosed who was driving the Ram. The driver of the F-350 was not hurt.
State police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about what happened to contact them at 203-393-4200.
