Minor injuries
A Waterford police cruiser was involved in a crash on Wednesday morning, resulting in the vehicle flipping over. The incident occurred at approximately 9:06 a.m. at the intersection of Route 32 and Richards Grove Road, as confirmed by local authorities.
Contrary to initial comments suggesting that the officer had run a red light, police have clarified that this was not the case. In relation to this incident, law enforcement issued a citation on Thursday morning to the other driver involved for failure to obey traffic control signal regulations.
A concerned viewer captured an image of the aftermath and shared it with Channel 3. The photo depicts the overturned police cruiser on Route 32.
Both drivers involved in the collision sustained minor injuries and were promptly transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital located in New London for medical evaluation and treatment.
Fortunately, following examination at the hospital, it was determined that no serious harm had been inflicted upon either driver. Consequently, while one driver remains under observation for further assessment of their condition, they are expected to make a full recovery soon.
The injured officer has already been released from medical care and is deemed fit to resume duty by Waterford Police Department officials.
