Three-Vehicle Crash in Wayne County Hospitalizes Adam Jones and James Burns

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office in Indiana responded to a three-vehicle crash on Wednesday evening, resulting in one man being hospitalized. The incident occurred at the intersection of State Road 1 and Bentonville Road in Milton.

According to the WCSO, deputies were dispatched to the scene around 5:31 p.m. Upon arrival, they determined that the crash had taken place in the 5700 block of S. State Road 1. A blue 2007 Oddysey van was traveling northbound on State Road 1 when it stopped to turn west into a private driveway.

Inside the van were a 10-year-old female and a 7-year-old male. At that moment, a white 2011 Ford F250 pickup truck also traveling northbound failed to notice that the van had come to a stop while waiting to turn. The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Adam Jones (44 years old), swerved westward in an attempt to avoid colliding with the stationary van.

During this maneuver, the passenger's side mirror of Jones' truck clipped against the driver's side mirror of the van. Unfortunately, behind them was a maroon 2021 Buick Envoy driven by James Burns (56 years old). Burns was unable to swerve out of harm's way in time and ended up striking the back of the van.

As a result of impact, both vehicles sustained damage and came to rest off-road. The van rolled off into an adjacent ditch facing southeast while Burns' Buick Envoy ended up in southbound lanes on State Road 1.

Following this incident, emergency services arrived at Reid Hospital for further examination due to concerns for their well-being; however, no injuries were found among those inside the van or its driver.

Adam Jones suffered minor injuries including lacerations on his face but did not require hospitalization. On-the-other-hand James Burns sustained lacerations to his leg and was transported by air ambulance to Miami Valley for further medical attention.

Due to the severity of the crash, State Road 1 had to be closed for approximately three hours while authorities conducted their investigation.
