Woman Hospitalized in Hit-and-Run Accident in Kearns

Woman in critical condition, driver of pickup truck with minor injuries
A woman in her 50s is currently in critical condition after being involved in a hit-and-run accident in Kearns, Utah. The incident took place at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday near the intersection of 5400 S. and 4330 West.
According to Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler, the woman collided with another vehicle while exiting a Rancho Market grocery store. After the collision, she proceeded to drive east on 5400 South before making an unexpected U-turn and driving westward against traffic in the eastbound lanes.
Tragically, her vehicle ultimately crashed head-on into a large pickup truck. Sgt. Cutler expressed uncertainty regarding the motive behind this dangerous maneuver, stating, "We don't know why this happened."
As a result of the collision, the wrong-way driver sustained severe injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities are currently investigating whether alcohol impairment played a role in causing this incident.
Fortunately, the driver of the pickup truck only suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.
