Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run in Washington Park Neighborhood

The victim was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred in the Washington Park neighborhood of Chicago on Thursday night, resulting in the death of a woman. According to the Chicago Police Department, officers were called to the scene of a traffic crash around 10:45 p.m. The incident took place in the 5900-block of South King Drive.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered an unidentified female victim lying on the ground in the middle of the road. She was promptly transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center for urgent medical attention but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Authorities estimate that she was between 40 and 50 years old.
Preliminary investigations by police suggest that a white SUV struck the victim before fleeing from the scene. It appears that she was not within a designated crosswalk when she was hit. At present, no arrests have been made as Area One detectives continue their inquiry into this tragic incident.
