Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Rock Hill
Police in Rock Hill, South Carolina are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Thursday afternoon. According to the Rock Hill Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of Cel-River Road and Cherry Road after receiving reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered that 54-year-old Deborah Jeanette Putteet from Indian Land had been hit by a Ford F-150 while crossing the street. The woman was walking in a crosswalk when the pickup truck turned right onto Cherry Road and struck her. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck received a citation for "disregarding a traffic control device," but their identity has not been released by authorities. The York County Coroner's Office later identified Putteet as the victim.
Rock Hill police say that they are still investigating this tragic incident. Anyone with information about this accident is urged to contact local law enforcement immediately.
