Maryxa Valle Zepeda killed in West Allis crash

One person killed, several others injured
A tragic accident in West Allis, Wisconsin claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman early Sunday morning. Maryxa Valle Zepeda was a passenger in a Pontiac that collided with a Jeep at the intersection of 60th and Burnham streets. According to the police report, the Pontiac was traveling eastbound on Burnham Street and failed to stop at a red light, striking the Jeep that was southbound on 60th Street. The impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway and hit two pedestrians.
The driver of the Jeep, an 18-year-old woman, and the two pedestrians, a 53-year-old man and a 50-year-old man from Milwaukee, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. The driver of the Pontiac, a 20-year-old West Allis man, was also taken to the hospital and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.
Zepeda's family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, but initial reports suggest that alcohol may have been a factor.
