Two Injured in Woolwich Crash: Shawn McNeill and Kristin Nawrocki

Both drivers were taken to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries but are expected to survive. Kristin Nawrocki's dog did not survive its injuries.
A two-car collision on U.S. Route 1 near Shaw Road in Woolwich resulted in serious injuries for both drivers and the death of a dog on Sunday morning. The accident occurred around 9 a.m when Shawn McNeill, 61, driving northbound in his Ford Transit van, veered across the roadway and collided with Kristin Nawrocki's Subaru Forester.
Emergency responders had to extricate both drivers from their vehicles before transporting them to Maine Medical Center in Portland with severe injuries. However, they are expected to survive their injuries.
The incident caused significant traffic disruption as northbound traffic along part of U.S. Route 1 was reduced to one lane for about five hours while southbound traffic was rerouted for several hours until police fully restored it at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Authorities have not yet determined what caused McNeill to lose control of his vehicle leading up to the accident.
