A worker has died after being crushed by a concrete wall at a construction site in Pacoima, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when firefighters responded to reports of two people trapped under the collapsed wall.
One person managed to free themselves, but the other remained trapped under cinder blocks. Footage from the scene showed multiple firefighters working to free the victim who was pronounced dead at around 10:30 am. The victim was identified as a 49-year-old man whose name has not been released.
The collapse happened on Glenoaks Boulevard and authorities are investigating its cause. Both Los Angeles Police and workplace safety inspectors are conducting an investigation into what caused this tragic accident.
