Dash-cam footage shows the tragic moment a wrong-way driver crashed into several other vehicles in Long Beach, resulting in his death. The incident occurred on Thursday night at around 7:19 p.m., prompting officers from the Long Beach Police Department to respond to reports of a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Junipero Avenue.

According to an LBPD news release, "the male driver of a 2024 Lexus NX250 was traveling westbound on PCH at Junipero Avenue, went into the eastbound lanes of traffic and crashed into three other vehicles, a Dodge Challenger, a Toyota RAV4 and a Jeep Compass." The Lexus eventually came to rest on its passenger side.

Despite efforts by personnel with the Long Beach Fire Department who administered life-saving measures, the 56-year-old male driver - who was alone in his vehicle - was declared dead at the scene. Three men from other vehicles involved were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while three others were treated at the scene.

It remains unclear what caused this fatal accident as police have ruled out speed, drugs or alcohol as factors that contributed to it. Authorities closed down PCH for some time while they conducted their preliminary investigation but have since reopened it.

The LBPD is urging anyone with information about this incident to contact Detective Jeff Meyer or Detective Kevin Johansen via phone number 562-570-7355. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers either by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visiting LACrimeStoppers.org.
