23-year-old Lucio Gopar killed in head-on collision on State Highway 112

Gopar was pinned for approximately 15 minutes, freed by Poteau Fire Department and pronounced dead by Le Flore County EMS. The driver of the Ram was medi-flighted to St. Francis hospital, his passenger was treated at the scene.
A 23-year-old man from Poteau, Oklahoma lost his life in a car accident on Thursday morning. The incident took place on State Highway 112 when Lucio Gopar was driving southbound in the northbound lane of the highway. According to reports, he was driving a 2017 GMC Sierra and collided with a Dodge Ram 2500 that was traveling northbound at around 9:00 am.
The driver of the Ram had to be medi-flighted to St. Francis hospital while his passenger received treatment at the scene. Meanwhile, Gopar remained pinned for about fifteen minutes before being freed by Poteau Fire Department officials who pronounced him dead shortly after.
Despite wearing seatbelts during the crash, all involved parties suffered injuries of varying degrees. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is currently investigating this tragic incident further.
