Gillispie was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was airlifted to a Columbia, Missouri hospital.

A Belleville man has died in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, James Gillispie, 76, was killed in the crash while a 68-year-old woman who was also riding on the motorcycle sustained injuries.

The incident occurred at around 5 p.m. along Missouri Route 42 near Castle Road in Miller County. Reports indicate that Gillispie veered off the right side of the roadway and collided with a driveway entrance before overturning.

Gillispie was pronounced dead at the scene while his female companion had to be airlifted to a hospital in Columbia for treatment.

Investigations into what caused this particular accident are still ongoing.
