35-year-old pedestrian seriously hurt and taken to hospital, driver not injured
One Injured After Box Truck Crashes in Elementary School Parking Lot
A box truck crashed into five parked cars and an empty school bus at Forest Grove Elementary on 32nd Avenue at Perry Street in Jamestown Township, south of Hudsonville. The accident occurred around noon on Thursday.
According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the box truck was heading north on 32nd Avenue when he lost control, crossed the center line, and left the road. A pedestrian standing between two parked vehicles was temporarily pinned between them but managed to free himself. However, he sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
The injured party is a 35-year-old parent from Hudsonville whose injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Fortunately, no students or teachers were harmed as it happened during their half-day last day of school for this year. The truck driver involved in the incident is a 75-year-old man from Grandville who did not sustain any injury.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by authorities.
