Westbound I-44 traffic is being diverted to northbound I-49. Eastbound traffic has been reduced to one lane.

MoDOT officials have announced that drivers should expect closed ramps and reduced lanes on I-44 at Exit 18 in Fidelity following a crash at the overpass until repairs to the bridge are completed. The incident occurred when a construction crane being hauled underneath the I-44 bridge had its boom extended, causing it to strike girders under the interstate. As a result, westbound lanes along I-44 were closed while MoDOT crews worked to assess the damage.

This has led to additional traffic impacts with several ramps at Exit 18 being closed. Eastbound traffic has also been reduced to one lane. Drivers are advised by MoDOT officials to avoid this area and find alternative routes while remedial work is carried out.
