Construction Truck Crashes into Building in Billerica, Massachusetts

Both crashes remain under investigation
A construction truck crashed into a building in Billerica, Massachusetts, on Monday night before another vehicle collided with a police cruiser that responded to the scene of the first crash.
According to reports, a Newport Construction work truck was traveling west on Floyd Street at around 7:30 p.m. when it crossed Boston Road and slammed into the building. Firefighters arrived at the scene and discovered the driver, a 19-year-old man, outside of the truck and sitting in front of the business. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The building involved in this incident is currently up for sale and had received an offer earlier that same day from potential buyers. The owner confirmed this information but expressed concern about significant structural damage sustained by the right side of the building due to the collision.
As emergency crews were working diligently to clean up and assess damages caused by this initial crash, another unfortunate event occurred as a pickup truck smashed into one of their police cruisers present at the scene. Officials have reported that at that time, lights on top of said cruiser were flashing as per protocol during such incidents.
Law enforcement took custody of both drivers involved in these crashes while investigations are ongoing regarding what led to these accidents occurring consecutively within such close proximity.
Both incidents remain under investigation as authorities work towards determining all relevant factors contributing to these collisions.
