Driver killed in collision with semi-truck in Carbon County

A fatal accident occurred early Tuesday morning in Carbon County, Utah. According to officials, a van collided with a semi-truck on State Route 6 at milepost 228 near Helper. The Utah Highway Patrol reported that the semi-truck was pulling double trailers while traveling westbound when an eastbound vehicle crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit the truck.
Tragically, the sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene by UHP. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and was treated at the site before being released.
As authorities commenced their investigation and clean-up efforts in the area, eastbound traffic had to be temporarily diverted. At this time, officials have not yet released any information regarding the identity of person who died as they work to notify next of kin.
