Driver Dies in Fatal Crash Near Merna

A fatal accident occurred on Monday afternoon near Merna in Custer County. The incident involved a single vehicle, a 2017 Ford Excursion that left the road and hit an embankment before catching fire. Unfortunately, the driver of the vehicle died at the scene and no other individuals were present during the crash.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed as forensic exams are still pending. The Custer County Sheriff's Office led investigations into this tragic event with support from Nebraska State Patrol.
