Fatal Head-On Car Crash Leaves Gay Arnett Watt Dead and Alexander VanCampen Injured

One dead, two injured
A fatal head-on car crash occurred on September 9 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, resulting in one death and two injuries, according to the police. The incident took place around 6:15 p.m. when state police were called to Cypress Creek Bridge, also known as Route 10.
Initial investigations indicate that a 59-year-old woman named Gay Arnett Watt was driving a 2004 Toyota Tacoma westbound on Route 10. In an attempt to pass a 2022 Ford Ranger traveling in the same direction, Watt collided head-on with a 2021 Toyota Rav4 heading eastbound on Route 10. As a result of the impact, Watt's vehicle lost control and spun into the Ford Ranger before coming to rest on the roadway.
Tragically, Gay Arnett Watt was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. The driver of the Toyota Rav4, identified as Alexander VanCampen (24 years old), sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to Riverside Regional Hospital for treatment. On the other hand, the driver of the Ford Ranger suffered minor injuries and received medical attention at the crash site.
Police believe that speed and passing over a solid line played significant roles in causing this accident. While Gay Arnett Watt was wearing her seatbelt at the time of collision, it remains unclear whether alcohol consumption contributed to this tragic event.
