Father and 6-year-old airlifted to hospital after head-on crash in Sampson County

Father and son airlifted to area trauma centers, four others taken to local hospitals
A father and his 6-year-old son were airlifted to a hospital after being involved in a head-on collision on Friday evening in Sampson County, North Carolina. The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on NC Highway 701.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene where they found a Chevrolet hatchback that had rolled over into a ditch, as well as a Honda with heavy damage also in the ditch and a Ford Fusion with damage on the road. Four other individuals who were involved in the crash were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The child and his father were flown from Halls Fire Department to area trauma centers for medical attention. State troopers are still investigating what caused this accident which closed down NC Highway 701 from Shipp Road to King Road for more than three hours.
