No injuries reported. The city’s Department of Public Works and an environmental clean-up company were both contacted.

The Battle Creek Fire Department responded to a gas leak caused by an accident involving a gas delivery truck and another vehicle on Monday morning. According to firefighters, the incident occurred at around 9:30 am at the C-store located at North Avenue and East Goodale Avenue in Battle Creek.

While filling its tank, the gas delivery tanker was hit by another vehicle causing damage to its delivery hose and valve resulting in fuel leakage of up to 250 gallons. Fortunately, no one was injured during the accident.

Upon arrival, firefighters immediately shut off emergency valves and called for hazmat response as water-fuel mixture started running into storm drains. To prevent further contamination, they created dams that diverted the mixture while using oil booms and absorbent pads.

According to reports from The Battle Creek Fire Department, there were no signs of fuel found near drainage points after checks were conducted. However, both the city’s Department of Public Works and an environmental clean-up company were contacted for assistance with cleaning up any remaining traces of gasoline.
