No injuries reported for the six children and driver aboard the bus. The occupants of the car were taken to the hospital and released.

Maine State Police responded to yet another school bus accident on Tuesday afternoon. This marks the second time in just one week that police have been called to the scene of a crash involving a Maine school bus as children were exiting.

The three-vehicle collision occurred around 3 p.m. on Smithfield Road in Belgrade. An RSU 18 school bus was stopped with its stoplights activated, allowing children to exit when it was rear-ended from behind by a minivan. The impact caused the minivan to collide with and go under the back of another car that had also come to a stop behind the bus.

Fortunately, no one aboard the school bus or any of its six child passengers were injured in this latest incident. However, occupants inside the car that was hit suffered injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment before being released later on.

This recent accident comes just seven days after an earlier incident where a child was struck by a tractor-trailer after getting off their school bus in Gray. Thankfully, reports indicate that they are expected to make a full recovery from their injuries.
