Man Dies in Pickup Crash in Des Moines

The driver died from an apparent medical injury.
A man tragically lost his life on Friday after crashing his pickup truck into a wall and utility pole in Des Moines. The incident took place at approximately 1:19 p.m. on the 2200 block of Washington Avenue.
According to Sgt. Paul Parizek, the 61-year-old driver seemed to be experiencing a "medical event" prior to the crash. Unfortunately, the identity of the driver has not yet been disclosed.
Emergency personnel swiftly arrived at the scene and immediately began administering CPR to the driver. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment but sadly succumbed to his injuries later on.
Thankfully, no other individuals were harmed as a result of this accident. Due to the fact that it appears that the driver's death was caused by a medical issue rather than directly from the crash itself, Sgt. Parizek stated that it is not being classified as "traffic-related."
