Volusia County Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Lake County

A tragic accident occurred on Sunday in Lake County, Florida, resulting in the death of a Volusia County man. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 1:32 p.m. on County Road 44A near Bill Collins Road.
The crash report states that a 51-year-old man from Enterprise was riding his Ducati motorcycle southbound on County Road 44A behind a Chevrolet pickup truck with a trailer, both heading in the same direction. In an ill-fated decision, the motorcyclist attempted to pass the truck despite being in a designated no-passing zone. Simultaneously, the pickup truck driver tried to make a left turn onto Bill Collins Road.
As a result of their simultaneous actions, the front of the motorcycle collided with the left rear of the pickup truck. Unfortunately, it is unclear what transpired immediately after impact as this information was not specified in the crash report.
Emergency services were called and promptly transported the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital; however, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The driver of the pickup truck—a 19-year-old man from Umatilla—fortunately escaped unharmed.
